Crosby Cleared for Contact, Part 2

By Finesse

We've been down this road before.

Crosby announced after practice today that he is once again cleared to resume contact drills in practice.  Here are the two key pieces of news:

He's only been symptom-free for "a few days."  Manage your expectations.

He could be back in "a few days."  Dear God.  Buckle up.

  1. Yikes! I honestly didn't want to see him back this season...

  2. Sid has taken this as slow as humanly possible. At a certain point, you have to trust his judgment and the judgment of the doctors. He hasn't and wouldn't knowingly put himself as risk.

He implied when he spoke today that, at a certain point, if there are no symptoms, you have to take a chance. In other words, he isn't going to know if he can take hits and stay in the line-up until he gets hit and gets in the line-up.

Maybe they'll return - there's no possible way to know for sure. But Sid isn't going to sit in the press box feeling good "just to be on the safe side." He could wait until Sept. and would be in the exact same position he is now: waiting to test things out and see if symptoms return.

  3. On the other side of the Mon, a black and gold team's captain would have said "I've had these symptoms as recently as a few days ago, you know the brain is not something you wanna mess with but I gotta be there for my men".

By the way, if I needed a convincing argument to be on board with Brandy and the GTOG suits about banning all hits to the head, last night's Kronwalling on Jakub Voracek may be just that. Scary stuff:
