Morning Skate: Yinzers Lose One of Their Own

By Finesse

There is nothing less interesting than being a 7, 8, or 9 win college football team, and unfortunately for Pitt, that seemed to be its ceiling under Dave Wannstedt.  Recognizing the pointlessness of being mired in slightly-above-averageness, Pitt cut the cord with Wannstedt in a hybrid resignation-firing.

Wannstedt seemed like a great guy and good recruiter, but he almost never won a meaningful game, and when he did, it came after several disappointing losses in games he should have won.  It was time for Pitt to go in a different direction, but the stash and the accent will be missed.
