Morning Skate: The Wreckin' Ball

By Artistry

Plenty of time today to lament the Pens' disastrous third period last night against the Bruins.  But for now, consider whether Pittsburgh could still use 42-year-old Mark Recchi.  Scoring touch doesn't age.

There were some positives coming out of the game last night. But make no mistake, losing that game was a disgrace.  I'll try to take some deep breaths before posting GTOPG.  Stay with us.

  1. First rule of departed players - by merely releasing a player you increase the chance that he will become the next [put your team's name here]-killer. Just a fact of life.

I think there should be a statute of limitations with regard to the "what could have been" talk with ex-Pens. It's not like we traded Recchi to Boston for Comrie last week. Recchi was released three years ago after scoring all of 2 goals in 19 games. Boston is his third team since leaving the Pens. We should all get over it, that is, until he scores another pair against us later this season.
